Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT)
Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is the NT’s premier cultural institution and is a well regarded representative of arts and culture across the Territory. MAGNT’s principal facility is the Museum and Art Gallery located in Darwin. They host a collection of natural, social and cultural specimens, artefacts and artworks as well as temporary and visiting exhibitions. They also manage several other sites and facilities in the Top End and Central Australia including the Museum of Central Australia & Strehlow Research Centre.
Drawing such a diverse and geographically distant set of exhibition sites together under the one banner was proving a challenge. We worked with MAGNT to create a consistent approach to their brand.
We started by defining how the existing logo was used and creating a style guide to reflect and define usage. This enabled the creation of a suite of branding collateral and internal templates. Working with the institution over an 18-month period, we also designed advertisements, program flyers, environmental graphics, specific exhibition collateral and annual reports.
Through this extensive portfolio of work we were able to deliver a professional, clean communication style that lets the Museum’s collection speak for itself. For the corporate items, colour was used to subtly identify the two distinct regions that the Museum operates in - orange for Central Australia and turquoise for the Top End.
